NC Vaccine Rollout, Taking Care of Yourself

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees in regards to the COVID-19 vaccine rollout in North Carolina. Even though this has given us tremendous hope, he also reminds us that we can’t let our guard down.  Employees must make sure they are taking care of themselves if they feel sick, and HR has options for assistance.

As many of you have heard, the COVID-19 vaccine rollout plan has been set in motion in North Carolina.  The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) has announced that it is partnering with health systems, local health departments, and community health centers across our state to host large community vaccine events.  These are being held in conjunction with counties and will be free of charge, regardless of access to health insurance or legal status.

The NCDHSS has also launched theYou Have a Spot. Take Your Shot campaign for individuals to learn more about vaccine groups as well as location options.  I would encourage you to visit https://covid19.ncdhhs.gov/vaccines to learn more and find out when you may be eligible to get your vaccine.

Now, even though the vaccine has given us tremendous hope, we can’t let our guard down. COVID-19 case counts are still high and it continues to affect the workload at many of our facilities.  It is amazing to me to see the commitment of so many to step up to make sure the work gets done. But this can’t be done at the expense of your own health.

I want to make it very clear that you have got to make sure to take care of yourself if you are feeling sick.  I understand this means you will not be able to come in and help get the work done; but I would rather ensure you are in good health than risk further hurting yourself or exposing others to any illnesses.

As a reminder, below are some of the symptoms to be aware of when it comes to COVID-19.  If you feel you have any of these, let your Supervisor or Manager know so they can put you in touch with HR.  Also, know that HR has several options available to help you get by while you are out.  We’ll be happy and excited to have you back when you are able to return to work.

North Carolina Extends Modified Stay At Home Order as Numbers Begin to Stabilize in an Effort to Continue to Slow the Spread

Executive orders for “to-go” or delivery sales of mixed beverages and evictions moratorium also extended

Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen today announced that North Carolina’s Modified Stay At Home Order, requiring people to be at home from 10 pm – 5 am, will be extended. Face covering requirements and restrictions on individuals gathering in both indoor and outdoor settings are still in place. Executive Order No. 189 will be in effect through at least Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 5:00 p.m.

The extension of Executive Order No. 190 allowing for the sale of “to-go” or delivery of mixed beverages will continue to help businesses that are struggling right now. The extension of Executive Order No. 191 will help families have the ability to stay in their homes, a critical component of slowing the spread of the virus.

NCDHHS Launches “Find My Vaccine Group” to Help North Carolinians Know When They Have a Spot to Take Their Shot

State Close to Exhausting Supply of First Doses

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services launched a new online tool to help North Carolinians know when they will be eligible to get their vaccine. Find My Vaccine Group walks users through a series of questions to determine which vaccine group they are in. People can then sign up to be notified when their group can get vaccinated.

“Given the very limited supplies we currently have, there may be wait times, but every North Carolinian has a spot. A spot for accurate information. A spot in line. A spot to take their shot,” said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, M.D.

North Carolina’s goal is to vaccinate as many people as quickly and equitably as possible. Local vaccine providers have worked tirelessly to ramp up and vaccinate people under difficult circumstances. This past week, in response to indications that the federal government might base future allocations on the supply states have on hand, the state and providers worked to rapidly administer vaccinations and exhaust North Carolina’s current supply of first doses.

NCDHHS Partnering with Health Systems on Large-Scale Vaccine Events

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is partnering with health systems, local health departments and community health centers across the state to host large community vaccine events for people currently eligible to be vaccinated. More than 45,000 vaccines are expected to be given through these events.

“The state will continue to support our local health departments and hospitals to get shots in arms faster,” said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy Cohen, M.D. “These partners were selected because they were able to rapidly increase the number of vaccines they could deliver as part of this effort.”

Governor Cooper Extends Modified Stay At Home Order Amid Rising Case Counts

Modified Stay At Home Order extended as numbers continue to increase at alarming pace; 96 counties now designated as “red” or “orange”; North Carolina National Guard mobilized, other efforts underway to support vaccine distribution

Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen shared an update today on North Carolina’s efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and support the vaccination effort currently underway.

Governor Cooper extended North Carolina’s Modified Stay At Home Order that requires people to be at home from 10 pm – 5 am to last through at least Friday, January 29. NCDHHS Shares Updated Rollout Plan for COVID-19 Vaccinations

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services today announced it had updated its vaccination plan to align with new federal recommendations issued last week. The changes simplify the vaccine process and continue the state’s commitment to first protect health care workers caring for patients with COVID-19, people who are at the highest risk of being hospitalized or dying, and those at high risk of exposure to COVID-19.

“While there is still much to do, we head into 2021 with a powerful tool to stop this pandemic– vaccines,” said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, M.D. “However, because supplies are very limited, it’s going to be several months before vaccines are widely available to everyone. Until most people are vaccinated, everyone needs to continue to wear a mask, wait six feet apart, and wash their hands.”

Because vaccine supplies are currently limited, states must make vaccine available in phases. On December 22, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices released updated interim vaccine prioritization recommendations for the next phases of vaccinations. North Carolina’s updated plan is outlined in the press release link below.

NC Elevated COVID Cases, Prevention Reminders

Our President and Owner, Scott Carr, shared the following information with our employees in regards to the announcement from NC Governor Cooper extending Phase 3 of COVID-19 restrictions due to elevated cases.

The Governor of North Carolina recently announced that the state of North Carolina has extended Phase 3 of COVID-19 restrictions.  This is due to the fact that our state has seen a record number of new positive COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations since the summer’s worst weeks.

This increased spike is something we all need to be mindful of, whether we are here at work or out about town.  As the state continues to open, the risk to spread infection continues to gets higher and higher.  When you add in that Daylight Savings Time has ended and colder weather approaches, the possibilities increase even more with people spending more time indoors.

To limit exposure for yourself and other employees, I want to remind everyone that we need to adhere to the following precautions.  These guidelines should not only be followed here at work, but I would encourage you to follow these any time you are around others.  The more we can do together to further prevent the spread of COVID, the better chances we have of keeping all of us safe.

North Carolina will ease cautiously some restrictions while continuing safety measures to combat the spread of COVID-19 as the state’s metrics remained stable in September, Governor Roy Cooper announced today.

“Our top priority remains getting children back to in-person learning. This month marks a major shift for many families now and in the coming months as schools open their doors, some for the first time since the pandemic,” said Governor Cooper. “The virus continues to spread, so we must take the next steps methodically, and responsibly.”

Governor Roy Cooper today announced that after a summer of hard work to slow the spread of COVID-19, North Carolina will take a modest step forward move into Phase 2.5 starting this Friday, September 4th at 5pm. Mask mandates and other prevention methods remain in effect and are even more important to contain the virus, Cooper said.

What We Mean by Customized Logistics Solutions

By Jan McCormick, Jr., Director of Marketing and Communications

There are a lot of third-party logistics companies that say they provide customized logistics solutions for their clients.  But what does that really mean?  Unfortunately for most businesses looking for outsourced logistics, that means they ultimately have to figure out how to make their needs fit inside the box of what a 3PL has to offer.  That’s not the case with us.

What we mean when we say we provide customized logistics solutions is exactly that. Each is unique and designed specifically to meet the client’s needs – and no two solutions are alike. If clients are unsure of their exact needs, we work with them to build a solution from the ground up that’s a perfect fit.  Here’s how and why we do it.

How We Provide Customized Logistics Solutions

The way we get started on building a customized logistics solution is by getting to know a client’s business.  This begins with a Supply Chain Profile to understand business needs and get an idea of what their basic requirements are.   In some cases, we’ll do a Business Analysis Review of current operations.  This could range from a one-hour conversation to an on-site visit over multiple days, and allows us to get a better understanding of how things are being done with current operations.  This research and due-diligence allows us to put together a Statement of Work, which along with a detailed proposal becomes the customized logistics solution that we present.

Knowing all this information to gather is made possible because of our leadership and their experience across so many different businesses. Whether it is automotive, food, retail, medical, or manufacturing, someone always has expertise to leverage when building a customized logistics solution.  And because we offer a broad range of logistics services to so many industries, that exposure to different verticals allows leadership to cross-pollinate best practices when coming up with unique solutions.

Our systems play a big part in ensuring success when providing a customized logistics solution. Proper onboarding protocol is critical so that we can start-up quickly but still be as efficient as possible. Our proprietary client web portal, BLIWeb, allows for customized reporting to fit the client’s business needs. Constant communication plays a big part, whether it be daily conference calls or quarterly business reviews, to make sure we are made aware of changing business needs and can proactively plan for the future. And continuous improvement programs allow us to be looking to reduce waste and streamline processes over time.

Why We Provide Customized Logistics Solutions

At Bonded Logistics, our focus is our clients and always looking out for their best interests.  We understand that a customized logistics solution allows for better efficiency, and matching our solution to a business is much easier than telling them that they need to fit our business structure.  Ultimately, we want to be treated as their logistics partner, not as a vendor, and that only works when we put them first.

Customized Logistics Solutions Graphic

Business changes fast these days, and it’s happening even quicker now that we are dealing with so many unknowns related to the pandemic. Our client’s customers drive our business, and dictate what we need to do to push forward when it comes providing customized logistics solutions. When a customer’s needs change, we have to work with our clients to adapt and adjust. Providing an off-the-shelf solution isn’t something that’s going to add enough value to what’s ultimately delivered to their customers.

We understand that companies are going to go through a lot of stages, whether it be growth or contraction, an acquisition or buyout.  In any case, by offering customized logistics solutions we can tailor our services to their changing needs. We have all kinds of services, multiple climates, and different locations so we can fit every need possible.  And because we created each solution, we can be agile and adapt as clients change and grow.

As Students Return to School, North Carolina to Remain Paused in Phase 2

Governor Roy Cooper today announced that North Carolina will remain paused in Safer At Home Phase 2 for another 5 weeks as students and staff return to schools, colleges and universities and the state doubles down on efforts to decrease COVID-19 numbers.

“Other states that lifted restrictions quickly have had to go backward as their hospital capacity ran dangerously low and their cases jumped higher. We will not make that mistake in North Carolina,” said Governor Cooper. “In keeping with our dimmer switch approach with schools opening, and in order to push for decreasing numbers which will keep people healthier and boost our economy, North Carolina will remain paused in Safer At Home Phase 2 for 5 weeks.”

Packaging World Highlights Coke Consolidated Partnership

Partnerships are crucial for survival with many businesses, but especially when it comes to contract packaging. So, we are excited that Packaging World has highlighted our work with Coke Consolidated in their latest publication of Contract Packaging. Specifically, it focuses on how they came to us with a new project where we lacked the capabilities, but like a true partner we figured out how to get the work done.

Core Values Translate to Project Success

Co-packer Bonded Pac puts the company’s core values into play to bring on the capabilities needed to produce print-registered club-store multipacks for Coke-Consolidated in record time.

Described by SVP, Product Supply Planning of Coca-Cola Consolidated, Inc. Brett Frankenberg as “a great partner and even better people,” co-packer Bonded Pac of Charlotte, N.C., recently completed a project for the U.S.’s largest Coca-Cola bottler that put the co-packer’s core values—God Honoring, Service Excellence, Teamwork, and Innovation—on full display.

In July 2019, Coke-Consolidated approached Bonded Pac with a new job that required the assembly and wrapping of club-store multipacks in print-registered film. Although at the time, the co-packer lacked the equipment required to do the job, within the space of just three months, it was up and running, producing Coke-Consolidated’s Variety Pack in brightly-colored, brand-enhancing shrink film.

Being nimble is a core advantage of co-packers, but it’s Bonded Pac’s customer service, transparency, innovation, and family values that Jon Hayward, Vice President of Bonded Pac, says also differentiates it from other contract packaging companies. Incorporating those values into its daily operations is what made the Coke-Consolidated project possible.
